Sorry guys, I am a little bit confused by the BG status change that you were talking about. My Background check status is "we are processing your background check". Is it what we want to see? or it will change again? I am May 16 applicant and this Background Check changed in March 17, but I haven't received medical exam request yet. Something wrong here? Thanks~

Yes you can apply for BOWP. attach email with file number, select open work permit when asked what type of work permit you are applying for in the form. You cannot get BOWP from border as far as I know. 78 days currently.

Make sure you meet these 4 criteria

• currently be in Canada,
• have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within four months,
• select “Open Work Permit” as the type of work permit when you complete your work permit application, and
• pay the work permit processing fee and the Open Work Permit Holder fee.

When you submit your application, you must provide all supporting documents listed in your document checklist. You must also include a copy of your Acknowledgment of Receipt letter. (Email you got with file number, your PNP certificate - attach it to Letter of Explanation slot if you are applying online)

Here's what I have observed so far. When CIC starts working an application, background changes to "in progress". However after a while (probably after passing all criteria of eligibility) it changes to "not applicable" status (N/A). When CIC is ready to finalize an application, Background status changes to "in progress again" before PPR. (There are some outliers to this observations though).

Congrats! As I see April 29, 2016 was Friday so may be we will see May applicants Background change from next week and they always tie 15-20 days applications in one slot as in my GCMS my group name is May 15-May 31.

What about May 12 2016 cic receive May 2 2017 medical request still N/A my background check

Can someone answer these questions?
Is BG done thru Centralized Intake Office or Case Specific Office in Ottawa?
PPR email will come from Ottawa or Sydney?
I got an email again from Ottawa stating that my file is at Centralized Intake Office-Sydney. My BG is in process since July 20 and yesterday MP said nothing is required, all checks are completed and waiting for final review. So i am just trying to figure out their procedure.

May 25 inland paper-based PEIPNP applicant. Today is officially the 16th months of waiting. Online service login still shows MR has been received. No sign of BG check whatsoever. The whole PNP is such a big scam and BS coz I know ppl who have the same back ground as me and applied for EE instead of PNP have already got their PR and they applied after me. So what's the point of having this crap and EE at the same time? It does make sense when the score for EE was really high but now it's only 400+ benchmark, and anyone with a provincial nomination would pass that score easily.

Yes it was fast, minimum to get AOR is three months.
