Hey guys,

For those who are planning to do an upfront medical exam, I just checked my online status, it shows "medical results have been received". Therefore, it works.

FYI,

File submit:Sept 22
AOR: FEB 19
Upfront medical exam done:Feb 24
Medical request email frm cic:Mar 6
Medical received by Cic: Mar 20

I am inland, SINP.

Hi Sara,

How did you submit your up front medical to CIC to have them link the two medical file number together? Did you do it by mail or by email? What are the addresses that you forward your documents to?

Thank you in advance for your time and answer :)

hi,
I sent the UMI and IME number to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca. I also let my doctor sent an email to cic as well just in case.

Hope my answer helps!

Doing medial upfront can work BUT it can also delay you even more. The PR process is very process driven but also has a human element. Whether it works or not (upfront medical) it this case lies on the shoulders of your case officer. Some case officers are proactive and dealt with several upfront medical cases. Some are not proactive or may get irritated by the extra work (outside process) caused by doing your medical upfront. Why is it extra work? normally, when you get a system generated MR, a file (think of it as a pipeline) is created that interfaces between the Doctor and CIC directly. The "pipeline" is activated by CIC through a MR..this way think of your doctor sending something through the pipeline that leads to CIC. When you do your own medical the Doctor tries to create another route or you try to email. When the MR is eventually activated, the Case officer needs to then figure out how to attach or push your upfront medical through the pipeline. This is not that complicated really, case officer can do it BUT some may be irritated BECAUSE..if you read your AOR email, it says...DO NOT sent document unless asked to. In my opinion , a disgruntled Case officer can moan and just put your file aside to "cool you down" - my opinion.

Someone wrote in another thread about the disadvantages of doing upfront medical. Now , I think there's a potential for a greater disadvantage......your Medical has a life span of 1 year. Hopefully you get your PR within that time frame BUT as we all know, that doesn't happen always. Doing upfront medical triggers an early expiry or your medical results and the time you think you're saving upfront might be lost twice if you have do the medical again at the later part of your process because it has expired.

Ultimately...it is your choice, no wrong or right but just offering a reasoned perspective here
