I have 2 days left to send in my passport to my VO in Argentina and I STILL don't know which one I should send!

I am both an Argentinian and Spanish citizen. In order to land I wanted to drive over to the states and come back, so I thought I would send in my SPanish passport, so that they would put the visa in there, then I could enter the US on that passport as well (visa exempt) turn around, land, and everything.

But then I find out CIC eliminated the counterfoils on passports for approved PRs from via exempt countries. Does this mean if I send them my Spanish passport, they won't be able to put my visa in it?

In which case I have to send in my Argentinian one in, and then try to enter the US on my Spanish one.. I imagine this could be a problem though, because they would see no COPR in my Spanish passport, and that might be a mess.

Any help? I'm at my wits end here.. :'(

To make a long story short, why don't you just send in the passport for the country in which you were a born citizen?

I think you are making things too overly complicated for yourself. When you are issued the visa, it is valid until your medicals expire so if you have enough time to settle your affairs wherever you are, you can do so and then land in Canada.

I know, what I'm asking is if I do (send in my Argentinian passport), will the US allow me to drive over there and back on my Spanish passport even if the COPR is NOT in that passport?

When you flagpole they will likely issue you a document saying you've been "denied entry" to the U.S. I only know this, because I did a flagpole last year and the young officer at the border sent me inside the U.S. office for one. When I got inside though the older officers were having a good laugh at this guy's expense. They explained to me that since I was a U.S. citizen they could not deny me entry, but generally they do that so that on the Canadian side the officers know that the person who is flagpoling has actually "left the country" even though you never entered the U.S. (just the grey area between borders).

Also, at this point there appears to be no guarantee as to what those of us from visa exempt countries will be getting back in our passports. I sent mine this week, and am curious to see if I still get a counterfoil or just my COPR with my passport back.

If I were you I'd make sure to use the passport I listed on my application. Otherwise - which VO did you use? If you used the one for Spanish nationals then I'd send the Spanish passport. If you used the one for Argentinian nationals then send that one.

If they asked for your passport its because they are going to put a visa in it, regardless of which passport you send.
As I understand it, when the stop issuing the visa counterfoils, they will stop requesting passports....
Send in the spanish passport.
