Hi, I’m filipina who’s married to Canadian citizen. Were 4 years together as boyfriend and girlfriend before we decided to get married. I was working in Thailand before and got married there. Our marriage certificate released on our wedding day in thai written, we translated it into English and certified from Thai Ministry Foreign Affairs.
Our marriage certificate thai and english are both certified and we registered them to canada embassy and philippines embassy there inThailand .

Here’s our personal case. I’m in Philippines now ( my country) my status changed to married and officially using my husband last name .

My husband work in Royal Navy Canadian forces and his currently in Europe for sailing . He have plan to apply permanent residence for me when he return back to Halifax . What are the ways and should to do to make it work ? Does he needs lawyer or agencies there to help us ?

How about my side . What should I do too?

I don’t have own savings and properties . And I’m afraid these will affect for our application .

Thank you so much !

Only Canadian citizens are eligible to sponsor spouses living abroad........tell your spouse to submit the spousal sponsorship application required forms and supporting documents according to the spousal sponsorship checklist.

Sponsoring your spouse, partner or dependent child

Refer......Spousal Sponsorship Guide......for assistance filling the forms.

IRCC promised to complete processing of straight forward spousal sponsorship cases within 12months......could take less and in exceptional cases could take more.

You don't need to have any savings........although income is not a barrier, its your Canadian sponsor that will need to provide how they will support their sponsored spouse.

Hi I am not an expert I googled the following links. From these link I think you don’t have to worry about your finances, it’s more about your spouses obligations.
If he has a good standing and is not on welfare it should not be a problem sponsoring you.
However the onus on your part will be to ensure that your records e.g. criminal records are clean and you do not have anything on you that will raise a red flag on the sponsorship application

Hi all,
If possible to get anyone’s opinion about my situation. I have a Canadian Citizen boyfriend and we are trying to figure out for a year now on how can I get to Canada.

I am still married here in the Philippines, but me and my ex were separated for 3 years now. I haven’t filed an annulment yet as its expensive and we wouldn’t want to wait for years for the result.

Can anyone please advise me what’s the best option or visa to apply, for me to come to Canada?

thanks for reading my messag, and God bless all

Have you tried applying for a TRV yet? That would be the first step.

Hi scylla, thanks for replying.

I have tried it once and I got denied due to lack of financial and travel history. I’ve travelled to Hongkong before I applied for the TRV but I didn’t know it wasn’t enough travel history.

I visited Malaysia and Thailand recently but I’m still not sure if that would be enough travel history if I apply for TRV again. :(
