Hi Friends,

I have sent my application to CIO and now in the process of gathering document for CHC. I have some questions regarding proof of fund.

I am to produce my EPF balance and bank balance combined as proof of fund.

a)
The last receiceived EPF slip I have (issued from the central bank) is for the first half of 2009. Can I show this as proof or do I need to get the latest
slip from the EPF department.
b)
Do I need to produce the original EPF slip or do I need to attach notorized photocopies.

c)
How am I to show the bank balance ? Do I need to get a letter from the bank manager stating the amount in the account. Do I need to submit notorized photocopy of the bank pass book indicating the bank balance ? The bank balance of which day do I have to get. Is it OK to get it now or do I have to wait untill I get the AOR to get this?

Please reply.
Thanks inadvance.

Here are my 2 cents:

1. I believe you will need the latest ones. You have to show that you CURRENTLY have the funds.

2. If you can easily get a duplicate EPF slip then it will be great else I think notarized should work fine.

3. Regarding the statement from bank you need a letter from bank stating how much money do you have in CAD (Canadian Dollars). They will issue a letter that your account currently has got CAD$XXXXXX. That's it from Bank part. No passbooks or anything. You will need this letter when you are sending the full documents to your local CHC office. If you check the checklist for document you will see the Proof Of Funds there in the list.

I am not an expert. Please, wait for more replies.

Thanks.

Blueboy & Louay advised u correctly. Just to add:
3. U don't need to show the funds in CAD. And no need for a 'Banker's Certificate' too. Just produce your 'latest' bank statement copy [in your currency] & attach 'self-declared' conversion report* [as per the latest rates] of the amount in CAD.

*Alternatively u can use a 'print-out' of the Conversion Report from this site:
http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/rates/converter.html

Qorax.

@ Qorax :
Just to be sure:
1) Must I attach a conversion print out from the site u provide us with , to the Certification letter of my bank. If the bank of Canada sit doesn't contain my currency, could I use OANDA.com site??is it accepted by CHC???
2) Will the CHC take in consideration my spouse's certification letter and count her amount of my funds????
thx

hello.....????????

I would like to point out just one thing. Different countries have different requirements. In India any private bank will give you a letter specifying your account balance in CAD. It is no hassle at all. It is better to get a CAD value on your account since CHC won't have to worry about the conversion and other hassles. The more to-the-point documents you give them, the lesser CHC has to think about and faster the processing. Different countries have different demographics and the law & order records. In few countries you don't even need to send the Original transcripts in University envelope (I guess in USA) but that won't work in India. A lot of people forge the documents here. So, it's better to get things that CHC will not doubt over. In India affidavits is not a big deal which is why CHC don't entertain a lot of affidavits. I remember when I was supposed to give the birth certificate I got an affidavit since I didn't had the birth certificate in hand. But, after researching around I found that CHC New Delhi considers affidavits only for those who were born before a certain year (I guess 1969) when birth certificates were not mandatory. For everyone born after that date CHC wants birth certificate. Yes, there are cases when people sent their 10th standard marksheet with an affidavit but there have been more cases of CHC asking back for original birth certificates.

I believe that ruka is from India and if that's the case then I would recommend you to get a CAD equivalent letter from your bank. It is not a hassle at all.

@ louay: Exactly why I recommend giving a letter in CAD equivalent if possible. You won't have to doubt about what to send along with and what not to. If you bank deals in FOREX then they can surely give you your account balance in CAD. If not, then ask them which branch of theirs deals in FOREX. Most of the times banks refuse to give in any other currency because that branch doesn't deal with FOREX. But, again your geo location matters a lot.

Get a 3 months minimum bank statement and get the Banks stamp which will be signed by the branch manager or authorized person. Its better to show if not possible then get a bank certificate stating amount in your account and it can be in your local currency.

if we send the balance confirmation letter from the bank, then is it ok to take the money from the bank after that?

do they verify the balance at a later date from the bank?
