Pls help I need advise

Hi there, I am living in Canada since nov 2013. I landed 2008 nov. I have an apartment, canadian driver license a car also have a job here soon After I moved over. I am holding a u.s passport. My pr is already expired and I have never lived in Canada for 2 yrs within 5 after landed. I understand I have to live here straight 2 yrs in order to renew my pr card, but due to family emergency I have to travel back to the u.s for few days. I just need advises on my situation here. Any ifnos will be helpful. Thank you guys.

If you leave now, you risk that you will be reported for not meeting the RO as you return. If that happens, you would have to appeal for your PR and they will look at if you had solid reasons why you could not meet it. Reasons like having a good job in the US or choosing to complete studies in the US would not work. It would have to be humane and compassionate grounds like taking care of a dying relative or something like that.
