Question 4 Immigration Office requested for the processing of your application

Indicate the name of the Immigration Office which serves:

•your country of nationality, or
•the country in which you are residing, provided that you have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one (1) year.
Note: Do not select the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) as the immigration office requested to process your application. Although you may be required to submit your application to the CIO, you must indicate the name of an appropriate visa office using the criteria above.

Note: If you are applying from within Canada or being sponsored from within Canada, this question does not apply to you. Go to Question 5.

I am assuming you are applying within Canada, so you have two choices:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/index.asp
▼ CPC and CIO in Sydney
The CPC in Sydney processes:
•applications for permanent resident cards (new and renewals)
•citizenship applications (new, renouncing, revoking and resuming)

The centralized intake office in Sydney (CIO-S) receives:
•all federal skilled worker applications

▼ CPC in Ottawa
The case processing centre office in Ottawa (CPC-O) processes:
•visitor visa (temporary resident visa) applications from within Canada for applicants with valid status (students or temporary foreign workers only)
•permanent resident visa applications from the United States and Canada after they have been pre-screened by CPC-M or CIO-S

Hi I am applying within Canada so shall I just leave it blank?
If you read my earlier response - you have two choices for processing office. You select which office in Canada as listed below where you want your application to be processed:
1. CPC in Sydney, NS
2. CPC in Ottawa (CPC-O)

If you leave it blank, then CIO will make the determination for you, based where you are currently a resident. If you are in Canada, and have been lawfully admitted (meaning either a temp resident/student/worker) for at least a year, then it will be sent to either of the two offices mentioned above.

Hi there! Any news what did you put? I left it blank because of the instruction. I don't know now if my file will be returned. :(

I left it blank as it clearly says in the instruction iF you are applying within Canada this question is not for you. Move to the next question
