Hello all,

Myself and my partner obtained PR status and did a short landing in canada in April 2016. Our child was born on January 2017 in India. Now we are ready to shift to canada, but our child doesn't have the PR.

Is it advisable that we carry our 6th month old baby to canada with a visitor visa and then apply for his dependant PR card there?

There is no such thing as a dependent PR card. You have to sponsor your child for permanent residency. To sponsor your child, one of you must be physically living in Canada. Yes - you can apply for a TRV for your child so that you can travel to Canada together and submit the PR application once you are all in Canada. If the TRV is refused, you can try applying for a TRP. If that is also refused, then one of you will need to travel to Canada ahead of the family to file the PR application - while the other parent and the child remain in your home country.

As scylla mentioned, you can apply for a visa and bring your kid here. Once in Canada, you can sponsor him for PR.
For the visa, you can refer this post. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/trv-for-infant-parent-pr-holder.454778/
Build a strong case (as much as possible) and there are more chances you'll get your visa soon.

All the best
