Message: hi em currently in USA on H1B and want to get info. on Canada immigration.
I want to file for skilled worker only for me, once i get approved i will go back to us and finish my current contract job which will be over in 1-2 years.
IF i am a permanent resident and i have not stayed in canada for past 2 yrs after getting my PR, now i want to move to canada and i want to file for my spouse and my child how long will it take and do i have to stay in canada or i can stay in USA and we all can come together to canada once they get their visas.
please porvide me with the info as em willing to do so.

A PR can be absent from Canada for up to 3 years out of the first 5 years after landing. The residency requirement is 730 days in every rolling 5 year period, so after the first 5 years you have to calculate your residency obligation going back over the most recent 5 year period. Basically that means if you are absent for the first 3 years out of the first 5, you can still meet your obligation, but you cannot be absent another 3 years consecutively after that.

As a PR, you will be required to reside in Canada in order to be eligible to sponsor your family. How long it will take depends on where their application will be processed.

It will be more than a month or two.
