Please i need help: Overstayed my visa

Please I have a sister who came to Canada on a student visa. Due to financial and psychological reasons, she could not finish the program and has overstayed expiring date of her visa. Please what is the way forward?

Two options:

1. Apply to restore/change her status to a visitor (if status was lost less than 90 days ago).

2. Leave Canada

How long has she been without status?

It's been over 3 years. We lost touch as she went into hiding.
The option of leaving is not a good option as our country is not stable. Are there options available in terms of refugee although she has a suitor interested in marriage.

Just my opinion, of course, but getting married to then be sponsored under the Spousal sponsorship category would be heavily scrutinized by IRCC. Not to say it's not an option, but with a 3 year overstay and not wanting to leave Canada...it would be a pretty big hurdle.

Can't comment on the Refugee path, but perhaps others will chime in.
