Don't worry it will be okay. I had mine returned as I had miscalculated the fee's. After the initial shock and frustration I quickly sent it back. It was interesting to see what CIC does to all that fancy organizing we all put into our applications. Good luck

Good point!

Seeing that `mess' will only add to the angst.

I'm sorry it happened to you too! Did you just send it back to them as thy sent it back to you? Or should I organize it again? Lol

The only bright side is they looked at it...

The scary part is that the letter will tell you that what the problem is and then they throw a line in that reads "warning there may be other problems with your application" so I started to flip it over one page at a time as I did not want to mess with the order they had put everything in. I finally gave up and sent it right back. Otherwise I was going to go insane. The order they put it in is different than what you read everyone doing. All the fancy tabs and tables of contents gone.
My view was despite my mathematical mistake was that I had done the best I could so I sent it back.

Thank you. That sounds annoying hahaha
I guess I will just have to see how it looks!

Hi all, so I am majorly confused. I received my returned application today in the mail. (Very happy it came as quickly as it did!)

BUT I am an American married to a Canadian who is applying OUTLAND. And the letter I received stating why my application was being sent back, stated I was missing form IMM5285 (Sponsor/Common law questionnaire) which is a form for INLAND applications. And the letter was signed "Sincerely, Inland Creation, Case Processing Centre Mississauga"...

so uh, what the hell?! I'm going to call CIC and talk to someone, obviously. What number do I call? Just the generic CIC-M number?

Does anyone else see this as someone in there messing up? Or am I missing something????

What address in Mississauga did you use to send your app?

Oh...to add insult to injury, Canada Post is threatening to go on strike next Friday. Yay! ???

He's right, but you can re-submit via private courier and bypass Canada Post altogether.

That's the right address. My only advice would be to clearly mark on top of the app that this is an Outland app so that it goes to the right intake office. I've heard of this happening a few times before.

OUTLAND was written all over the place! I'm so angry right now! I'm going to try and get through the phone soon, and if that doesn't work, I'll be calling as soon as they open in the morning. This is insane to me.

Here's the list of documents for an Inland application:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

And for Outland:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

Similar but different. Review all the forms you included in your returned application and make sure they match the Outland list. If not, CIC may have interpreted your application as Outland, and then determined a form was missing.

Every form I included was every Outland form. No Inland ones. At all.

unbelievable but not unheard of. I hope you get a good answer on the phone. If it was me I would complete the form they asked for but include a letter. I would also include an additional letter clearly stating this is an outland application. Good luck. I feel for you.
