I submitted my passports and RPRF on 01-12-2010 and I have not get any information from CHC, New Delhi till yet.

My passport is expiring on 1st May 2011, What should be done?

Either embassy can stamp visa on the same passport or I have to go for a new one.

Please share your suggestions.... :( :( :-[

Dear Sandeep

I am surprised, why CHC has asked / accepted your passport with limited validity. They always check that before they ask for PP. Moreover, I sincerely feel you too should have taken the responsibility. Even I have read this validity thing somewhere in CHC website..... Every visa office asks a minimum of 6 months validity of passports to travel. Even to apply for a new one you must have the old PP ..... I hope they send back the old PP at the earliest and you apply under Tatkal...

Cheers, Anil

they can stamp in same passport but you have to get new passport and attach both together not to worry.

Thanks Anil for your supportive reply. I was also wondering, how embassy can accept short time validity passports? I have faxed them a letter to return my passport in valid position, so I can apply through tatkal option. Suggest some other way to get my passport back...

Hi belize

I got two replies for my question and both are different from one another. Are you sure they can stamp visa on my expiring passport? If they do so, how would I renew my passport?

The validity of your family's visas depends on the validity of the passport that is expiring the soonest. Therefore, the validity of your visas will be 1st May 2011. You will be unable to travel to Canada for the purpose of landing beyond this date.
I'd recommend emailing your visa office IMMEDIATELY and telling them that you would like your passport returned so that you can obtain a new passport for yourself. This need not be done for the rest of the family.
Are you and Indian passport holder?
When you send back your new passport, send a copy of your old passport's biodata page as well as a copy of the last page of your new passport (which shows the old passport number)

I second that.....Validity of your VISA is 1 yr from the date of Medical...or expiration of passport which ever is earliest.....as your passport is expiring on 1st may .....write an e-mail to CHC explaining the situation....they will send the passport back....get the new passport made and send it again to chc...

You have to get a new passport. Send case specific query to the VO, as well, asking them to return your passport, immediately. Or, alternatively ask VO to issue visa soon and express your willingness to travel to Canada before expiry of the passport.

Hi ashirale

Thanks for your reply. I have already sent an intimation letter to visa office to return my passport, so I can apply for a new one as early as possible.

Rakesh Brother...I guess this is not going to work ....even if VO issues a VISA with a validity till may ....he won't be able to fly....getting a ticket and traveling will not be permitted.......this happened to our doctor sahab........when his visa was issued he had a validity of 5 months in the passport....he was not given a ticket and could not travel...since he had time ....he got the new passport made...now probably he is travelling with me next month....

Cheers
