Hello,

I am an international student while my husband is a full-time worker and he wants to sponsor me to get my PR. We just have somethings going on that we are not sure would affect the application. We both have no criminal record but he has an on going court settlement with the police, he was wrongfully harassed and he took them to court. They are still in the process of settling. My case is that I took a semester off school to work and save for our wedding but my study permit is expiring Jan 15th, because my passport was expiring that day (I recently got a new passport) I plan to submit my application to renew my study permit on the 21st of Dec (by then school would be closed for the semester). I am enrolled in courses for the winter semester, and I can show them my timetable and enrolment letter to prove I am enrolled in school, I know so many people that have done it and still got their study permit extended. We are just a bit worried that all these factors especially the settlement case might affect the application.

Can anyone advise us on this, I would rather talk with a lawyer but our lawyer is on holidays to return after new years and I'm too anxious to wait lol

you likely will have your application for study permit extended.....but will advice you submit your inland sponsorship with OWP application when you have status......your sponsorship will be approved based on the proof of supporting documents and the genuineness of your marriage.....worry less about the court settlement.

Did you work during the semester you took off? Was the semester you took off a scheduled break where everyone else in your program was on break as well?
