Hi Guys,

Who ever can help me please answer...

My friend's WP expired last Sept of 2014 but his LMIA was applied 4mos before the WP expires, up until now his LMIA has not been approved and we have no update from service Canada. He is still here in CANADA hoping for a positive result on his LMIA. He's job description is assistant buyer, any idea what he needs to do?

Thanks!
ozm

There is something wrong with your friend's story. According to the above, his employer applied for the LMIA in May-June 2014, and there is "no response." Sorry, not buying. The employer should have contacted Service Canada long ago, before his permit expired, it does not take that long for LMIAs.

He has been in Canada for over a year without authorization. If he was working this whole time, he has been working illegally. He needs a lawyer.

My previous employer applied for LMO in early 2014 and only got any kind of response after calling Service Canada 5 or 6 times over the span of 2 weeks. They claimed they've sent a response, but could not find any record of it actually being sent. The LMO application was denied based on bullshit reason - 75% of job postings were rejected with a note that said "I do not know this website".
Most likely it's the same story here.
