I am a PR holder since last year and I was in a relationship when I got my PR but wasn't engaged/married.

Now, we plan to get married in Canada and I was looking at the checklist and the first question in the document checklist says :

"The person I am sponsoring was declared as my spouse or partner and was already examined as a non-accompanying dependent when I applied for a permanent resident visa, and did not receive an immigrant visa." (Note: If you have never applied for a permanent resident visa, answer no)

I understand that when I applied for a PR visa, I did not put anyone as my non-accompanying dependent so my spouse was not examined. So I answer No. ofcourse. But the note says that If you have never applied for a permanent resident visa, answer no. But I have applied for a PR visa and already have it.

What should I answer? I am confused.

You were in a relationship.. had you been living together for at least one year when you applied for your own PR?

No. Not for a full one year. We were together in college and then we moved to different countries. We have met for couple of weeks every 6-8 months and have gone on trips but never lived together for a full year.

Ok, then you're fine. Just answer "No".

The instruction is there so that people who never applied for a PR (Canadian citizens by birth, for e.g), don't get confused.
