Hi all,

Do I need to provide my police certificate from my home country for CEC application, given that I have never lived for more than 2 months back home (accumulated) since I was 18?

I came to study in Canada when I was 17 and I paid only 5 short-term visits (each one lasting 1 week or less) so definitely I had lived there for around only 1 month.

Please answer? Thanks everyone for coming in!

I think in your case you do not need PCC from home country, as the requirement is to submit PCC for each country where you lived for atleast 6 consecutive months after the age of 18. And no where it was mentioned that PCC for home country is a must.

Still I would suggest call CIC and get confirmation.

Theoretically, you don't need any PPC from your home country or any other country if you haven't stayed there longer than 6 months after you turn 18. But practically, don't be surprised if CIC ask you later to provide them with one.

Yes you don't need any PCC. But I have seen CIC asking for PCC in situations like this. I would say if you have the options, you should get a PCC and include it in your application. Because Later if they ask you, then they will give you 30-60 days to gather the PCC ( you will get a deadline) Or you will have to send email to CIC, explaining them your situation. That will be a 50-50 chance then.

You need PCC from all countries you stayed for more than 6 months. Better to submit with the original application before CIC asks for it which delays your process. I have even read instances where CIC asked for PCC from countries where individuals stayed less than 6 months (Italy, middle east to name..)

Hello guys, it's been a while. I still would like to gather more answers on this issue. Getting a PCC from my home country is a painful process honestly =)

Hi

I would get the certificate, I would expect CIC to ask for a PCC from your country of citizenship as well as any country you have resided in.

Thx

I would say chances are better than 80% that CIC will ask for the PCC... Unless by "painful" you mean literally, physically painful or even death-defying (s it can be in some places...) But since Canada does not "interfere" with other nations, that list is very very short...

You could always write an explanation and wait and see, but then if they do request it anyway, you won't have much time... Problem is, just because you SAY you haven't spent that much time there, there's really no easy way for that to be verified...

you don't mention the country, but in more and more places there are services (usually law offices) that will obtain this for you, if you can afford it...
