Hi all,

I have Worked in Canada as a Contractor in company for 8 months ( PGWP -open) under Noc-B
but my agency payed me (my Agency company is located in USA) . I was payed through ADP canada with Deductions (i also have t4 with me).

I GOT reference letter from my agency with all details . AND , i also asked for a ref letter from the client (From the company in Canada where I Physically worked) . but, they provided me just a simple letter (on the company letter pad with HR details) saying that I was employed as Contractor through xxx (my agency) with Fromdate and end date.

my question is now i feel there no too much details in letter provided by the client =>(bit worried) . also, i have to think the fact that client cannot provide the actual ref letter like my agency (with all details e.g.: pay etc)

is that ok ?

If it wasn't 12mobths of work, it doesn't count as work experience and you do not need to declare it on your ee profile or provide a reference letter.

thanks for the reply . But , Why do you think this not counted ?
coz . my taxes where deducted (through ADP canada) and i have paystub and T4 . ( i don't have any business number etc)
please explain in detail .

You need 1 year of experience. If this is your only Canadian work experience, it will not get you any points in ee.

sorry about that , but i already have few more exp in Canada Under NOC -B
xxxx - 6 months
yyy -- 3 months and along with 8 month exp what i have mentioned above .

so now , What do you think about my situation ? for that 8 months of contract experience

thanks ;D

If that's the information you can get, then submit it all. It's best to submit too much than not enough.

thanks for the reply :) hopefully VO's are ok with it

My biggest issue with this is your reference letter. I don't know if the letter from an American agency would be of any value when providing details of your Canadian employment.

Also, the "client" as you call it did not provide a ref. letter as requested by CIC (with all the duties/responsibilities that would match your job to your NOC code?, hours of work? salary?).

I think the breaking point is whether CIC will accept the ref. letter for U.S. If so, then you're probably fine.

Cheers ;)

thanks for the reply. to Dig in detail - my client 's Headquarters is in USA but they have their R&D and support team in Canada (all other team's is in USA) . thats how association between Client and agency happened :)

For CEC the one year experience does not have to be at one employer. Even part-time and full-time employment from different companies can be combined.

However, OP's work experience is really not regular. I believe self-employment (contractor work) would not count. On top of that that American ageny is really a confusing factor. I would ask for the advice of an experienced lawyer or VIP members.

Self-employment work experience does not count towards CEC.

The assumption here was made that since he has T4s (not T4A) he was not self-employed.

I see the point. As you wrote before getting Canadian reference letter would make the case much easier. I think OP should try to get another letter pointing out all the details he needs. Most employers have no idea how important this thing it. It has to be explained to them.

Yes indeed, I already PM him to suggest that.

Cheers ;)

thanks guys :)

I will request the Reference letter from Canadian Company (my client) ! . but only doubt is the pay information !!! which i received from the agency . I don't think my client (Canadian ) will add that(pay details) info into my letter ???
