I am a girl who was resettled from Turkey as a refugee by Canadian government in April 2009, I now live in Edmonton, Alberta.I work and I don’t receive any government assistance. I have my PR and other related documents. I have few questions I want to ask and I need your advices on this:

There is a guy who is someone dear to me and I want to go to Turkey and marry him so that I can sponsor him and bring him here as my spouse. In fact I didn’t include in my application at the time of my interview in the Canadian embassy in Ankara. We can provide proof of our relationship.

I want to know:

Q1. What are the requirements from me to sponsor him?
Q2. What is the minimum income required from me to sponsor him?
Q3. Will they take into account how much I have in my Bank account?
Q4. How long will this process take?

Hello.. I was alson sponsored by my husband who is a permanent resident in Canada.

Based on our experience, he went to my country and marry me so that I I would be eligible to be sponsored under family class. I guess that's the best thing you can do also to make him eligible for sponsorship. You must also provide all the proofs that your relationship are genuine and continuing, such as photos, letters from each other and telephone bills.. all of it. As far as I know, there's no minimum income required to sponsor a spouse unless you have children and make sure that you are not being supported by the canadian government. Bank accounts will not be necessary since income is not really important.. Processing times depends on you compliance with the requested requirements.. but in our case, our approval for sponsorship took about 1 month and now it is being processed in the canadian embassy of my country.

for more info that I guess would be much helpful to you go to CIC site

Hope this helps

Thanks i really appreciate your reply :-)

I really want to give more information about you and your husband`s experience.............like at first when he came to Manila ....you had you marriage then you did the medicals then he went back to Canada and submitted the application for approval then he asked you to approach the embasy ............is it something similar to this or its different????

Can you tell me the steps that you and your husband went through from starting so that i can follow the similar steps?

he went back here and marry me and do documentations such as pictures of the ceremony and everything like tickets of honey moon pictures of trips weve been together.. sort of things like that.. then he carry it back to CANADA. While I am waiting for our certificate of marriage so that I can change my passport, he also process the papers and requested the OPTION C form from your revenue.. ( A proof that you have not been supported by the governemnt) then when I received my cert of marriage, I change my passport and scheduled for medicals. My proof of medical was also sent to my husband together with my PR application and all the supporting document and when he received it, he send it to CPC-M and there we just waited for the decision. :)
