if we were closer to the border, we would definitely go to Canada for the exam. But we're in Florida...the airfare would make the cost of the visit even more!!

The problem is that there are only 3 DMPs in our state. One is a 2 hour drive away, and the others are cheaper (by $50) but are a 4 hour drive away. With the price of gas and the inconvenience of driving so far for a quick exam, it didn't seem worthwhile.

It is $300 for the medical exam, $85 for the chest x-ray and $80 for them to send the results by overnight fed-ex. I didn't bother asking if they would send it regular fed-ex instead of overnight, so I am just going to get the application submitted the same week and hope that since Buffalo processes 80% of cases in 9 months, that we will not have to repeat the medical exam.

But, good news, the pictures were only $45 - they charged us for 6 sets of passport photos, same price as for US passport photos ($7/set), and gave us 4 extra for free!! So we have 16 pictures total!

Yeah, it's too bad it costs so much. I looked at getting my partner's done in Florida, but it was going to be hard to get him to the nearest location. Since he was coming here for an extended visit, we decided to get it done here, which turned out to be a good decision. Add to our fees $75 (so far) for applying for a visitor extension.

Good new on the pictures. We need to get more to send with the application. I think we're going to try Costco.

You need 5 for you Medical

At my medical check earlier this week I was told they only needed 4, and they were adamant about handing the 5th back to me....
