Hi sponsor and visa experts,

I thought I read somewhere online a few months ago that the sponsorship time for inland (when my girl is visiting me in Canada using visitor visa from the Philippines) is faster than sponsorship outland (if my girl stays in the Philippines).

Can anyone here bring any light to this or give me a summary for inland vs outland sponsorship times for the Philippines into Canada?

I really do not want to wait a year or longer to get my wife sponsored, so I want to know which is faster for us.

In general I recently read inland is longer but somehow I believed that some countries are faster inland depending on where the spouse came from.

That's wrong, outland is far faster than inland. I would say 6-8 months if you go outland and minimal red flags.

WOW! Honestly that's the FIRST visit visa I have heard of being issued out of the Philippines. How did she manage that?

Anyway, mikeymyke is correct, OUTLAND is much faster. Note that you can also apply outland EVEN though she is with you in Canada.

Actually she didn't get a visitor visa, it was more like a what if scenario haha. So are you sure outland in Philippines is 6-8 months, not longer?

Also, thanks for telling me she can do OUTLAND even if she is in Canada. How would we go about applying OUTLAND while she is in Canada? Do it online? Send mail to the Canadian embassy in Philippines?

Just use the OUTLAND application package here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
Doesn't matter if the applicant is inside or outside Canada at the time. However to stay in Canada, you need to maintain status as visitor, worker or student which is separate from the PR application.

The complete PR app (all paper forms only, no online option) is mailed to CPC-Mississauga for sponsor approval first. After that's complete, CIC will forward the app on to Manila to complete the applicant approval. I would budget around 1 year for the whole process (some are quicker some are slower).

I'd say eight and a half months is your best case scenario, but it certainly could take longer.
