Hi Everyone,
I am in a desperate need of advice/experiences similar to my situation.
I have graduated from Queen's University's Master's program this May 2020.
My program was 1.5 years long but it was delivered through accelerated 1-year program on campus without any breaks.
Queen's university provide all graduate with a graduation letter stating this particular information about the program which was submitted in my PGWP application package, since they acknowledged that this is really important for international graduates to have when applying for PWGP.
I have applied for PGWP in first week of June and since I had to give my biometrics which later waived I had to wait until 10/26/2020 to get the result.
I finally got approval email but I was only approved for 1 year. All my colleagues received between 2-3 years and I was expecting the same since we all had same documents.
However, I was only one receiving 1 year - the shortest length of PGWP. As you guys already know 1 year on PGWP is not really enough to Express Entry.
I felt so depressed and felt it was bit unfair that each individuals are evaluated differently although with same profile. I called IRCC and agent said they'll note my inquiry in my profile and advised me to submit web form to ask for reconsideration. I submitted and highlighted information about accelerated program on IRCC website and also resubmitted school's letter on 11/12/2020. Today I received an email saying that they will maintain their initial decision without any further reasoning. Yet, my classmate who just received decision on PGWP today received 3 years PGWP which makes me feel even more upset. I am thinking of hiring immigration consultant, and some people told me to reapply as new application but i don't know if its an option for my case. Please share any of your thoughts/experiences and it would really be helpful.

Thanking you in advance for your thoughts!

That sucks, I guess checking with a lawyer is the only option not sure what can be done though, maybe judicial review is an option but will probably be costly and not sure officer made any "mistake" here. Don't think you can apply again PGWP can only be granted once.

Thanks for your reply. On IRCC website though accelerated studies which was less than the program length PGWP would be granted equal to the length of original program so in my case it should at least be 16 months. I would have assumed

That sucks! Order the GCMS notes to see what your file states. This will help to find out why & if you can appeal through judicial review on whether an officer made a mistake according to immigration rules and regulations. A lawyer can help and the process will be expensive and long. It is possible that they haven’t made a mistake according to the laws and regulations...you just got one year & others got longer. Nothing on the site says “would” be granted. The wording usually states “may” or “should.”

Pretty sure there is language there that says they can grant same length as actual studies not the length of the program.

GET GCMS notes for your PGWP app.
You will see VO notes.

Accelerated programs
If you complete your study program in less time than the normal length of the program, you may be eligible for a PGWP valid for the full length of your program.

For example, if you complete a 1 year study program in 8 months, you may be able to get a PGWP valid for 1 year.

Now, if you can get a letter stating from the college about the normal length, and you graduted in an accelerated program, it will help your case.
