hello all,

I have a question about the exact length of post-graduate work permit Canada will give.

Basically, they say 1) I need to be a full time student 2) work permit length equals 'official program length'

So if my program is designed for a time period from September 1st 2013 - December 31st 2014

September 1st 2013 - December 31st 2013 (1st term, paid, have marks on transcript)
January 1st 2014 - April 30th 2014 (2nd term, paid, have marks on transcript)
May 1st 2014 - August 31st 2014 (Summer term, not paid, have no marks on transcript)
September 1st 2014 - December 31st 2014 (last term, paid, have marks on transcript)

In this situation, what will that summer term be treated when immigration officer deciding how long a work permit they will give? Because if I didn't pay for summer, I a not a full time student, but if this is what the program be designed like, no courses in summer?

Thanks all
Greg

you will not be penalized for not attending through the summer, it is uncommon for programs to have required summer sessions. Three regular semesters usually equal 1.5 academic years, so that's what your PGWP would likely be...
