I have been in Canada on a study permit for almost 7 years. I first came to Canada at age 17 by myself with no knowledge on immigration and how the system works. I attended sheridan college and graduated from a 2 year diploma program with honors in 2012. I then went on to York university to continue my studies but 4 years later I was unsuccessful in my degree completion. I've lost interest and had a change of heart in what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to go back to school with a new career path. Because I am international, it is no secret that this has been extremely expensive for the past 7 years. I figured it would be a lot easier to gain my Permanent residence before going back to university. So this became my new goal. However my status as a student in Canada was expiring and With the help of an immigration consultant I renewed my status and I am now attending a private school ( Chellsey Insititute of Beauty and health ) taking a one year diploma program with hopes to apply for my post graduate work permit and then eventually my PR.
6 months into my program I am reading online that most if not all private schools are not eligible for the PGWP and from reading this forum that I should stay away from private schools completely.
Now I'm wondering what should be my next move. ( this new study permit only allows me to attend private non degree granting institutions)
Please can anyone help me?
