Hey, that's really helpful to know raven00090, thanks for sharing that with us. When did your PGWP expire and when did you apply for an extension since you received your response on Aug 5th?

I decided to quit my job as of August 4th as I realized that I don't want to mess my PR application by having to explain why I worked on implied status although i clearly cannot extend a PGWP. I didn't find it worth having to explain why i worked past my status end date. Once I get a rejection/refusal I plan to restore my status and apply for a visitor permit as well.

My PGWP expired on April 19th. But implied status gives me the right to continue working. I think the people who have said that they would mail incomplete application notice earlier are correct on this. Here's why I think that is the case:

We don't know what is considered incomplete but there could be clues, like on this line from that page:

All questions in this section must be answered or the application will be considered incomplete and will be returned.

Secondly, look at this page : Guide 5553 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5553ETOC.asp for extension as a worker

This line on that page says:

The Case Processing Centre will review your application to determine if it is complete. If your application is not signed, if all mandatory sections are not completed, or if the required fee is missing, your application will be returned to you and you will have to re-apply.

I think they do an upfront check for "completeness" before putting your file in that date's drawer or rack or whatever before they get to processing it.

I would still not suggest anyone to be as stupid as me and let their status be in an immigration limbo. When I first applied for it, I even thought I would make use of the PNP international student stream while this thing is in processing and hopefully before I get the BOWP processed, I would have something from Ontario. But then the OINP stream closed and I was left with no option other than LMIA, but let's not go there, for me it would have hardly done me any good. Given my financial situation and this limbo, I couldn't afford to stop working.

I am sorry I thought I responded to this. I don't know in this case what you have to do but I would think it would be just like how anyone opts for a study permit. By first enrolling in an educational institute, getting a letter of acceptance and then using that to make a study permit application within the restoration period. But I am not sure, perhaps more informed members can shed some light on this.

Can someone in the house give me a step by step process of how to apply for an extension of a post graduation work permit. Presently, I am on the express entry pool CEC pool with 465 points and waiting for an ITA but would have to renew my pgwp and work on implied status till ITA or PNP comes through

I am currently looking at the IMM5710E document, on the details of intended work in Canada. What kind of work permit are you applying for section, should I enter open work permit or what ......

Is it also good to include an offer of employment letter and a letter of explanation (LOE) on the application package. Also, will the total application fee be $255 (open work permit fee + initial, renewal work permit fee)

Hey i am on same situation.. Planning to apply without including spouse.. Did you do that?

No I missed the ITA by one point. Could not apply. Waiting for ITA but will probably apply along with my wife
