Hi everybody,

I know that this topic has been covered many times, but I was wondering has anyone had the first hand experience in post graduate work permit, after completing a course that last 3 semesters, which is 3x15 (45) weeks, and one academic year.
According to IRC,
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/after-graduation/eligibility.html
I would get a 45 week work permit. Since it is almost a year, do they issue PGWP for a one year, or stated period of weeks?
This makes a huge difference later when applying for PR, as a FULL year of work experience is required to get the points.

Any information is appreciated
Thanks a lot

How is the course timeline stated on the college website ? The important thing is what your college completion/graduation letter says whether that just says you completed a one year course. Did you check with the college what they will state ?

It is stated: Length: 3 semesters
This is the course: http://appliedtechnology.humber.ca/programs/cabinet-making.html#SchoolProgramDetails/ProgramContactInformation
A few days ago I e-mailed the Humber about the course timeline and schedule, but they haven't responded yet.

The Algonquin collage has similar course, and they state it is 45 week program on their website:
http://www.algonquincollege.com/acce/program/cabinetmaking-and-furniture-technician/

Also the Georgian college offers similar course, and state: 3 semesters - 1 year
https://www.georgiancollege.ca/academics/full-time-programs/cabinetmaking-techniques-cabt/

All three should have the same credentials, and yet they are all stated differently for program duration.

I finally got a response from the collage regarding completion/graduation letter . Here it is:

This program is considered to be a one year program. On your graduation letter, it will say 3 semesters, which is 1 academic year.

So does anybody have any experience with similar situation? For how long will CIC issue a PGWP as its stated 3 semesters, but is considered a one year program ?!?

Technically, 2 full time semesters in a year are considered a year of full time studies.

3 semester will most likely lead to a full year PGWP (if not more). are these 3 semesters all back to back?

Hi, I need similar info. I saw a post-grad program of 3 semesters (one of them is co-op term, so 2 semesters study + 1 co-op term). Is this eligibile for 1, 1.5 or 3 years of PGWP ?
