Well, I put the date when I graduated my bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering. Although I am not sure if that's correct one, but that's surely the date when I was qualified to work in this position in my country. And in eAPR they didn't ask me to show any kind of trade qualification in Canada.
That's what I filled in. However, they have confusing wording at EE profile filling in stage. What NOC did you apply with?

Yes, agree on confusing wording on the website. I have 2 NOCs: 2145 - for a Drilling Engineer position; 8232 - for MWD/LWD Field Engineer position. I still have not submitted my eAPR yet, and not sure whether I should use 8232 for MWD job. But I am more towards that. I wish I could find someone who worked as an MWD before and already got PR.

I think you've chosen the right NOCs. However, more advice can help you. Are they asking for any separate documents for the 8232 NOC in APR?

I hope so. No, as for now, I can't see any additional document request from them. All it says:
"You must provide proof of work experience for your current job and for each past position you listed. Proof must include a reference letter from your employer and pay stubs, if you have them. The reference letter must:
  • be an official document printed on company letterhead
  • include your name, the company's contact information (address, telephone number and e-mail address), the signature of your immediate
  • show all positions held while employed at the company
  • include these details: job title, duties/responsibilities, job status (if current job), the dates you worked for the company, the number of work hours per week and your annual salary plus benefits.
You must scan all documents for this period of employment and save them as one file. (You must create a separate file for each period of employment.)"

Ok that's good to know that we don't need to worry about any additional work with 8232

I am in the same position regarding MWD/LWD, I have still this point pending whether to go with 2145 or 8232.
leaning towards 2145 more.

Which NOC has more points matching with your actual job duties?
Actually after investigating and comparing closely the two NOCs, I found that 8232 matches my duties more than 2145 in the following points:

Lead statement:
Oil and gas well loggers, testers and related workers operate specialized mechanical or electronic equipment, tools or instruments to provide services in conjunction with well drilling, completion or servicing. Workers in this unit group are employed by drilling and well service contractors, petroleum producing companies and well logging or testing companies.

Main duties:
  • Assemble and attach equipment, tools or recorders to drill stem or wireline to conduct required procedures and tests
  • Operate or direct the operation of wireline or unit controls to lower, position and retrieve equipment and instruments
  • Operate recorders and computers in mobile testing or logging unit to collect data
In my letter i mentioned Logging While drilling, providing services to client and employed by a services company, so i feel more comfortable with this NOC.

Now i'd like to ask for your advice on what to write in LOE explaining why I changed my NOC.

Are you in post-ITA stage? You don't need LOE pre-ITA. If you are post-ITA, then I will be of little help to you because I'm still on the initial stages of research regarding documents required post-ITA.

@ibtee no worries bro.

Actually I've submitted my application with 8232 and included in the LOE that NOC 8232 matches more my actual job duties.

Let's hope for the best
