Hi Everyone,

I applied for my permanent resident status (spousal application, currently residing in Canada) and open work permit in early November. In early February, I received the medical test request which I completed and has been submitted electronically.

Does anyone know if this means I should expect an answer soon on the PR application? Does this also impact the open work permit component or should I still expect to get that?

Impossible to say without knowing how you applied for PR (through which immigration stream).

Processing time for inland applications is around a year - so you're looking at around Nov of this year before you'll likely have approval. The open work permit should be processed within four months. So you should be hearing something pretty soon about that.
