Hi. thank you for your interest in helping me. Does my Filipino spouse (sponsored to Canada ) need to do the PDOS if she is just leaving the Philippines just for one year on a Permanent Residence Visa ? She is taking one year leave to be in Canada and then has to work in the Philippines for 5 more months to retire . She is not really immigrating to Canada but just really receiving her PR and see what happens . Thank you for your time and assistance . Yes she has to reside in Canada 2 out of 5 years . Canada may be the best option for us for many reasons , medical and lifestyle etc , Gary

Yes, she will not be allowed to board her plane without a CFO sticker that can only be acquired via PDOS or GCP (if you are a citizen)

It's mandatory to go through CFO office once a PR visa is issued for Canada.
