PCC Special Case

Hello everyone. This is my first post in this forum as I embark on the process to apply for my permanent residence through CEC. I'm a graduate from a Canadian University (4 years) and have lived in Canada since I was 17 (moved to Canada a full month before turning 18). I have not lived anywhere else other than Canada since then.

My question is: Do I need to submit a PCC? I realize that they will run their own background check within Canada, but I have not lived in my country of citizenship since I was 17.

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply! Do you mean I do not need to submit ANY PCC at all? This was my assumption, but just wanted to verify. Also, if anyone is in Vancouver and could suggest a translation company, I would greatly appreciate it. (Spanish to English)

I think you do not need PCC or they can ask Canadian....

"You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18."

If you use one of the certified translators from this association, you do not need to get the translator's affidavit.

You still need to submit RCMP certificate but not of any other country before u turned 18 .
You do not need to submit the RCMP clearance, unless they ask for it later (CIC conducts name-based searches for all applicants, so this will only happen if you have the same name as someone with a criminal record)

According to the rules, you would not need to submit for your home country either. However, in the past, for others in the same situation as you, CIC has requested clearances from the home country.

So, you could apply without any clearance, but you should add a written statement explaining why. And then be prepared if CIC asks for your home country PCC anyway (they have the right to do so). If it takes a long time to get it, you should apply ASAP just in case...

Agree with jes_ON... based on my own experience with them, I would obtain a PCC from your home country anyway because within the same year you lived in 2 different countries though on your 18th birthday you were living in Canada. A visa officer can still request it and sometimes the timelines are stiff.
