Hi I came to Canada in October 2022 as a landed PR. Prior to this I was in my country of birth. I have not been outside Canada for more than 183 days since landing. Do i need to supply PCC?

I read somewhere that if you were in your country of origin prior to being in Canada in the 4 year period prior to date of application, then you wont need to supply a PCC. However, there is a lot of ambiguity around this, so if anyone can share the IRCC guide link on this matter or if anyone in the same situation got their citizenship granted then it will be great. Thanks!

If you look on the form (the downloadable one), yes, it confirms in one of the notes that you do not need if any days outside Canada >183 days were in country of origin prior to landing as a PR. This is in the fields immediately around the number of days/PCC. I'll leave it to you to find it.

hi , sorry for hijacking this thread, since I have related query, instead of creating a new thread, I am trying to get an answer through this one.

My spouse became PR in January 2022, stayed in Canada for two weeks and returned to home country. She moved to Canada permanently in August 2022. I am trying to calculate the duration between Jan 2022 - Aug 2022 (days after she became PR) and it comes out to 189 days. My queries -

  1. I think she would need to submit PCC if we were to submit her citizenship application now (even if the 183 days window doesn't fully fall under 4 years that IRCC looks at as it would be July 2026 - July 2022) - am I right?
  2. If we delay and submit citizenship application after the 4 years window ( say mid of Aug 2026), I assume no PCC would be needed, considering she didnt stay more than 183 days between mid of Aug 2022 to mid of Aug 2026. and the duration of Jan 2022 - Aug 2022 , during which she was outside of Canada, would fall outside 4 years.
@armoured @scylla - for your attention please. thanks.
