Hi Members,

I am reviewing the checklist and my wife currently lives in Macao as a resident but previously studied in China for her bachelor's.
1. I'm assuming we'll need the PCC for China and in addition to Macao?
2. Has anyone with experience done the PCC for China and can speak about the process? Thanks!

I think police certificate is needed for anywhere that your wife lived for more than 6 months, so I'd say a Mainland China police certificate is needed if she attended university there.

I believe the process of obtaining a Mainland China police certificate is:
1. Go to a Mainland China police station and get fingerprinted (would be good to go to the one where your wife attended the school). Specify that this is for immigration purpose.
2. Obtain the police certificate
3. Go to a notary office, and ask for Chinese/English Translation notarization.
4. Submit the notarized document (which has both Chinese and English contents and embossed stamps) to IRCC.

Thanks we got some more details on RedNote (XHS), we went to her hometown city in China instead of her school's province (just pick which is more convenient)
1. Go to the police station and request the documents (initially faced some resistance as the officer asked why would someone from Macao would need them)
2. Come back when it's ready (tbh my wife took care of it all and she knew of the notarized versions)
3. Misc stuff still need to do (translate her birth certificate from China and build a better story with more pictures)

Great to hear you have this figured out!

Just a note that the birth certificate from Mainland China may still need to go through the same Chinese/English Translation notarization process in order to be accepted by IRCC.

Well. I am truly delighted that you were able to successfully resolve this issue. Your wife's birth certificate will also need to be notarized in order to be used in Canada. If your wife was formerly a resident of mainland China and subsequently became a resident of Macau, her birth certificate situation could be somewhat complex. I recommend that you look into this matter further.
