I have been working as a visiting professor in the Physics Department of a University in Montreal and I have to renew my work permit which expires August 31st.
However, I'm going to a conference next week in Europe and after that for vacation to my country. I will return in mid-August. On the work permit it says that
the application for renewal should be made at least 30 days in advance.
I do not have a credit card and even if I apply it takes more than a week and it's not for sure that my application will be accepted.
I asked information for a prepaid credit card (which is easy to obtain) but they will charge 25$ for rushing and have it in two days. (I'm leaving next Wednsday).
The other option (form IMM 5401) is more time consuming. I sent the form two days ago but in the instructions it says two weeks.
I have the following question: Can I use the credit card of a colleague to pay the fee? Or it is not allowed.
I'm asking this because in the payment process they ask for the name of the card holder.
