Hi everyone I’m refugee and I live in Malaysia I was sponsored by 5g i did my medical exam on 14 June 2021 i told them i had tb in the past after 20 days iom called and asking me to do sputum test in 1 day why they didn’t asking to do in the day I was doing my medical exam why after 20 days can someone tell me please
They requested me for a sputum test right after my first x-ray and scheduled a second x-ray after 3 months. You are right, they should have requested you to have a sputum test on the day of your first x-ray because you already told them about your past treated TB history. How long did your sputum result take and when did they approve your visa? Did they ask you to provide past chest x-rays and evidence of your treatment, the medication you took for TB?

x-rays don’t guarantee no TB although there is usually some signs on an x-ray. If you’ve had TB I’m surprised that there was no scarring visible on the x-ray. The fact that you previously had TB would create concern that you may still have TB because there is so much drug resistant TB around and many stop their treatment because it is very tough to go through. Assume that is another reason you are being tested. Sputum test takes 2-3 months because they have to wait to see if anything grows from the sputum culture. If nothing grows from the culture the lung x-ray will then be repeated and if there are no changes or if it looks better than the first you will pass the TB part of the medical. If you have TB you are expected to get your TB treated which will take at least 6 months. You are not denied, your application is just put on hold until your treatment is over. Canada has very low TB levels and wants to keep it that way. TB is primarily limited to homeless people, people living on aboriginal reserves due to overcrowding and other social issues and refugees.
That's correct. I am also surprised how his x-ray didn't show scars when in fact he had TB in the past. TB leaves permanent scars or sometimes the medication you take for TB. The fact he was called for a sputum test implies that his x-ray actually did show scars. They give privilege to refugees by taking all samples on the same day (the day they take your first chest x-ray), each 1 hour apart. I even wonder if they would be expediting their sputum result time or immediately approve visa right after the negative sputum result and second chest x-ray. Refugee is a PR on arrival.

Did they ask you to provide evidence of your 6-month treatment for TB?

May be a policy from IMO in the region. All you can do is wait.
