passport stamp

I don't need visa to visit Canada, normally immigration officer would stamp my passport when I enter the country and I got 6 months stay, unless date of stay is written in the passport, but this time there is no stamp in my passport when I enter the country, is this normal? or some kind of mistake?

Usually just means that by default you can stay for 6 months but must leave then.
