passport request

Hi all,

My wife got a email requesting passport, she already sent it to visa office right away. Its been three weeks, just wondering how long will it take to complete? and once it complete, does that mean PRR granted?

So is you wife from a 'visa required' country? If so, then this is CIC asking for the original passport so they can fix a visa in it. They will return it together with her CoPR so you can land as PR. As regards timescales, I would expect 'weeks not months', so if it has already been 3 weeks, maybe get it back in the next couple of weeks.

Yes. She is in China which requires visa to land in Canada
So you mean they will add a visa and also PR status into passport?

No.

They will affix a visa to her passport (which will allow her to travel to Canada) AND send her a CoPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) form which has an expiry date. She MUST land in Canada and declarer PR before that date. Present to CoPR on landing together with any 'goods accompanying / goods to follow' lists for customs. They will then instigate her PR Card if she can at that time also supply a Canadian address for them to send it to.
