You have to leave and attempt to reenter. It would be best to try to extend on this current visit and next visit initiate the supervisa.

My father’s Super Visa application was processed through India, and he recently received a passport request letter from IRCC. However, he is currently visiting me in Canada.
The letter mentions:
“For Super Visa applications, passports must be submitted to a visa application centre outside Canada for insertion of a visitor visa.”
I understand passports can’t be stamped within Canada, but I read in some posts that it may be possible to send the passport to a VAC in the U.S. (like Los Angeles or New York) for stamping.
Has anyone here successfully done this while their parent was in Canada?
If yes, could you please share your experience — which VAC you used, how you sent it (courier or via a friend), and whether IRCC accepted it without issues?

A lot of people have asked me how I got my parents’ Super Visa passports stamped while they were already in Canada. Normally, IRCC expects passports to be submitted outside Canada, but there’s a workaround: you can send them to a VFS office in the U.S., like New York (NY) or Los Angeles (LA).
Here’s exactly how I did it
Choosing the Right Courier
I used an official FedEx location (not Staples or Home Hardware). In Ottawa, there’s only one, so I had to go there. Only official courier outlets (FedEx, UPS, DHL) can generate two-way labels, which VFS requires.
Initially, I used one envelope to send both passports to VFS NY and included one return envelope. But VFS emailed me saying they only return one passport per envelope, so I had to send an extra return label. Oddly, their website recommends FedEx, but their email asked for DHL or UPS only — so I ended up creating a DHL label for the second passport.
What I Included in the Package

At the FedEx location, the staff were super helpful. They gave me the envelope for free, helped me create a FedEx account, and linked my credit card. They created the shipment to VFS NY using my account, then helped me generate the return label.
After VFS received the passports, they emailed asking for a second return label. They provided the envelope, but insisted on DHL or UPS this time. So I created a DHL account, generated the label, and emailed it back to them.

- VFS Consent Form – available on the VFS website – click here
- Money Order – check the VFS site for the latest fee. In Canada, CIBC offers USD money orders (RBC doesn’t for sure). Click here for official website
- Explanation Letter – optional, but I saw many people include it, so I did too.

I got my father’s Super Visa stamped successfully.
The best approach is exactly as mentioned above—go through FedEx. Before visiting the FedEx location, it helps to create a FedEx account online and prepare a two-way courier setup, including your address and credit card details.
At the FedEx office, the staff will help finalize everything and provide two envelopes:
- One envelope for the forward courier
- One smaller envelope for the return courier
Make sure to include all the required documents as mentioned earlier.
Important: The package transmission fee must be paid in USD. Do not convert it to CAD, otherwise the package will be returned.
The entire process usually takes 10 days or less.
I dropped the passport at FedEx on December 22 and received the stamped passport back on January 2.
I am based in Regina, and the total cost for the two-way courier was approximately CAD 120.
