Hi everyone

My passport will be expiring in 12 months time, and Im afraid I will not have enough time to renew my passport and then apply for sept term,
So is it advisable to just go ahead and apply for the study permit with my current passport

Yes go and apply for visa. you will get study permit and visa till the date of the validity of your passport. Once you enter canada you can renew your passport from your country's embassy and you can extend your study permit.

According to CIC website Passport is required to be valid for a minimum of 6 months. So you are good to go.
