Passport expiry before PGWP

My passport will expire in April 2024. I have like two years and 10 month the readout starting from May 2021, which is when I would apply for my PGWP. As per what I have read so far on this group, your passport must be valid for 3years if you want to get your three-year work permit. Now I have less than three years, will my work permit be issued for 2years 10months or should i apply for a new passport to safe me the trouble. Your response will be much appreciated.

Get a new passport, would help in the long run.
