Passport expired

Hi All

I have applied for express entry through CEC. I received a request from CIC for passport and my work permit copy of canada when I was there. Now it is mentioned that passport should be valid for 6 months, I had applied for PR in august 2020 and my passport is expiring in July 2021. Now what should I do? should i apply renewal of passport. I got my old passport when I was unmarried. Now for reissuing of passport, PSK guys told they need updated adhar card with w/o one. I had applied adhar card updation but as it will update in 2 days and deadline to update documents will be crossed. Now what should I do as I won’t be able to upload new passport copy. Should I send explanation letter for the same to IRCC that I might need some more time to get it done.

please help and advise guys. It’s urgent

I have a similar issue at the moment, I applied for a work permit from South East Asia, last Dec and I am far away from my home country, and now my passport has expired and I cannot renew my passport because of the lockdown where I currently reside, do know IRCC can issue a visa on my expired passport with a letter of explanation? Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks in anticipation

I don’t think so IRCC issue visa on expired passport. For all types of visa in eligibility section it is mentioned that passport should be valid for 6 months. You can send explanation letter to IRCC through web form that I need to renew passport if they can extend time period for visa stamping or so.

Yes as per me they will give time extension. I had mentioned that due to lockdown passport services are closed in my country and it’s genuine issue.. of course they should extend your time

@hkaur819 I have a similar issue. My passport will be expiring in May 2022 but I had already renewed it. Do I have to inform IRCC through web form for the new passport or shall I wait for them for their confirmation email?

Hi Again, Thanks, I got the time extension to go back to my home country and renew my traveling document and send it for approval. I have a new question, do you know If I can fly to Canada from a location that is different from where my application was submitted?

Yes as long as you are authorized to enter..
