Passport Expiration Query

Hi All,

I am an Indian, will be joining VIU Nanaimo from September 2020, for MBA. This is a two year program. Concern is my passport expires on May 2022 whereas the duration of MBA program is 2 years, that will be around July 2022. What should I do. Should I renew passport prior to applying student visa. How likely it is to get visa rejection in the above scenario. Please help

You would not get a rejection because of passport validity in itself. But Canada does not issue visas beyond passport validity so you would need to extend your study permit later with a new passport. Or alternatively, you can apply for a new passport now and avoid having to apply for a study permit extension later.
