Parents Visitor Visa extension inside canada

Dear Friends,

My In-laws are here in Canada, their visa is going to expire in next month March, We are planning to extend their visa but online it is showing processing time is 80 days? for visa extension, can we apply now and can they stay inside canada when the visa is in process?

any guidance on this is much appreciated.
