*asking on behalf of someone*
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone who has gone through this can clarify something.
We are applying for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) from inside Canada for children who are already studying in primary/secondary school and hold valid study permits. They just need the visa sticker to travel and re-enter Canada, not a new study permit.
When completing the GCKey eligibility questionnaire, the dropdown asks what the applicant wants to do in Canada (options like visit, study, work). Naturally we selected “study” since the children are students, but the system generated a study permit extension application instead of the TRV. Our application was returned back.
Has anyone in the same situation (kids already studying in Canada) applied successfully for a TRV from inside Canada?
If so, which option did you select in the dropdown so that the system generated the visitor visa / TRV application (IMM 5257) instead of a study permit form?
Any guidance from people who have done this for minors already in Canada would really help.
Thank you!
