Parents' TRV (paper-based) Approved

Writing this message to thank the people who encouraged and supported the decision to apply for my parents' TRV and also gave valuable advice. @Jakev @Bryanna @Jaywalker thank you for your advice and help. I also had help from some folks offline and on a Facebook group.

We filed the paper based application on Feb 07 2019. The Biometric letters were updated to their account yesterday. We saw the first status update in their accounts on Tuesday Feb 12, 2019 and got the approval update in the online account today along with the counter foil number. Visa issued until passport expiry for both parents.

Both my parents are retired Indian citizens and also residing in India. We didn't use any invitation letter and applied for less than 6 month stay. We provided detailed itinerary as well as provisional flight tickets, pension documents, all bank documents, property documents, CA valuation of properties and detailed explanation for their past trips to visa required countries and provided a purpose of visit letter as cover note.

My father reitired from the army in 2004.

Yes. I wasn't expecting it to come through so quickly. We did have my dad's complete service record at hand so maybe those details helped as well. I'm quite thrilled.

I am applying for them online from Canada (as an unpaid representative). Both my husband and I are Canadian Citizens and are able to support their stay financially.

1. They were married in the 80s and do not have a marriage certificate. From what I read here- Passport which lists them as each other's spouse would be sufficient. Would putting in an Affidavit hurt their application? They can easily get it made in India.
2. When submitting their bank account details, fixed deposits, pension payments and the property documents, is a CAD valuation absolutely necessary? I have all these documents attested by a notary but do not have CAD valuation of it. Lets say for 15 Lacks in Fixed Deposits in INR- could i simply convert in CAD? (sorry if this is a stupid question).
3. Am i late in applying for their Visa? I am so worried. I have their roundtrip ticket booked and ready to go. Will buy their health insurance as soon as the Visa comes through.
4. Also this will be their first time leaving the home country to come visit me-is that a hurdle?

Their passports + your birth certificate or school record that states their names as your parents. An affidavit won't be necessary if you have these two documents.

Awesome, I will dig up my school record that indicates this, along with their passports which says they are spouse! Will include a neat cover letter saying these are the two documents in this section.

Great! Will make sure i put a simple excel document (printed in Word) to show the total FDs they own, their bank statements etc converted in CAD. I genuinely thought I would have to get a notary or a Chartered Business Valuation Specialist to do this for them. But if I can do it, I sure will! This will show they have 1. Strong reason to go back to India as they own $$ in India & 2. They are financially sound.

No, they aren't. In fact, I was specifically asked by a few friends who have gone through the process to make sure I include a valid round trip ticket. They asked me to hold off on the health insurance portion until my folks get Visa.

Property ownership documents + recent property tax receipts + property valuation done by themselves or a property assessor + excerpts from property portals or realty reports (Citibank, Frank Knight, etc) to prove the indicative market valuation cited by them is in line with these reports.

All documents must be in English or translated into English by a certified translator

I have the pension document for my dad.

Do include the pension renewal (in November) as a reason to return + statement of the bank account to which the pension is credited.

For the FDs, do prepare a table per bank: FD details + date of investment + principal amount + amount payable on maturity + date of maturity + whether the FD is mortgaged or locked-in.

Also, include the FD interest certificate(s)

This explanation (tabular format, details in point-wise) would have separate sections for Property Ownership + Financial situation + Family ties (in this sub-section, two sections - one for Immediate family i.e. Name, Relationship, Age, Nationality, Address.... separately list your sister, her husband, and their kids..... and the other section, Extended family: Your parents' siblings, cousins, uncles/aunts et al.... no need to state their names, age, details, etc of these relatives). They can mention that your sister's children enjoy meeting/spending time with your parents.

Your parents must include 2-3 compelling reasons to return to India. For example, a wedding in the immediate family, a family event, etc

Do cross-reference evidence wherever possible.

I recommend submitting paper applications instead of online submissions. Also, one set of all common documents must be included for each application, do not submit such documents only with the principal applicant. Do request VFS to bag both applications together so that they are reviewed by the same visa officer

I’m in the similar situation trying to get my parents to visit me.
1. My parents had applied for a visitor visa in December 2018 and were denied visa based on home ties and proof of funds. Both my parents are retired however We did provide sufficient funds.
2. My husband and i are PR holders of canada and are in canada since april 2018 and have permanent jobs.

We would like to reapply for their visit visa again and would also want to know what could be the maximum duration for the visit

2. Do post the list of documents that they submitted

3. Do they own property or land? Do they live with other dependent family members? Good financial situation? Any previous travel to other visa-required countries?

@Bryanna & @Histrionics I submitted the application for mom and dad online on Tuesday Feb the 26th. I HAD to do it online because my parents live in a small town in India where there is no VFS centre. Their Biometrics Letters have been updated into their accounts today. This does not mean a decision has been made on their application, is it? My parents should now book their tickets to go get biometrics done at the closest VFS in India correct?

PS: I literally followed you guy's advice to the T. I might have had to spend hours compressing 37 MB files into 4 MB (limit for PDF upload on CIC), but i hope mom and dad get their visa. Thanks again.
