Thank you for sharing this valuable information. While you were applying through portal and uploading documents, did you go back and forth to document upload page from the beginning of creating the profile or did you use a short cut? For me its a bit annoying because I need to go through all information pages to reach the end every time.
Yes, That's annoying but you have to go through all pages if you want to go to the Upload page. But once you upload all docs then you will redirect to the upload page after login until you make payment.

Thanks Priya and all others for input.

I my case I wish to apply for a Super Visa. I was advised to request the visa for 1 year instead of 2 or 6 months, which shows the intent to get a super visa.
The dilemma I have is that if I request 1 year visa for my dad then the question might arise around how he can be away from his work for such a long period. He is a practicing lawyer in India and moving towards retirement. My understanding is that we need to show that the parents have very strong ties back home and have full intentions to go back after a short trip.
Although they plan to stay with me for an extended period of time.
Please advise….

I put 1 month stay for my mother’s super visa and she got it. Planned trip can be of any days, just because supervisa allows longer stay doesn’t mean you must have to mention a longer length of visit. You will need a lot of money for 1 year stay and it’s unrealistic if dad is working.

But you need to buy/show insurance for atleast 1 year right?

@priyankbhojak88 This information you shared is so invaluable and will do a great deed for a lot of people. Thank you so much.

In my case neither my parents or myself ever maintained strong balance in account. Will it be fine to just transfer money from somewhere and take a print out with bank signature on the overall balance instead of statement?

Thanks for your feedback.

somehow thought that we need to request one year stay in order to get approval for a super visa. As advised by a friend…

What’s a good reason to request a supervisa as compared to a one time visitor Visa. Only thing I can think of is that I put down that they’re going to be visiting in their summer holidays every year. Would that be a good enough reason?

Yes. Not a problem at all. You can stop monthly payments whenever your parent leaves.

Family visit due to long separation induced by COVID restrictions is just fine. Supervisa allows certain visa officers to be lenient on funds requirements on the parents if the Canadian host is financially strong.

I’m speaking from experience as I did the same for my mom.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Strong balance is one of the big criteria for visa approval. I would suggest not rushing for visa applications. Transfer your funds and keep them there for at least 1-2 months. It might be possible that you will get approval but the visa officer might also ask for a source of funds and additional documents to avoid that better to wait for some time and then apply.

Congrats and thanks for the detailed explanation.

i am applying for supervisa using the new ircc portal but i do not see any section to upload any picture of the applicant. does the new portal not require the applicant's photo to be uploaded as part of the application?
There is no photograph required through the new process. If they need they will ask but there will be no section to upload photographs.

Hello Ranveer, Sorry but I have limited knowledge in the case of a super visa so I would not like to advise anything which I am not sure about. You can check other forums for Supervise specific to get answers on this.
