Parents sponsorship plus brother.

Hi,

I was reading the website but I am a little confused as to my situation. I have PR and would like to sponsor my parents and brother. My brother is under 19 years of age.
Am I able to sponsor them all or just my parents? I see there is an option to bring one other relative.

You can include your brother provided the application is received by CIC before he turns 19. Note that you cannot submit the application until January of next year and must meet the income requirements for your family plus everyone you are sponsoring.

As long as your brother qualifies as a dependent on Jan 3, 2017, then you can include him in the app.

Right now this means he needs to be aged 18 and under as of Jan 3, 2017, but there is a proposed rule change to increase that to age 21 and under. No idea when this will become effective.

To qualify to apply in Jan 2017 you will need your Canadian tax returns from 2013, 2014 and 2015 all meeting LICO for your family size.

Thanks for the replies. I only received PR now. Do my previous years of income count ( I was on a work permit ) or is it 3 years of income as of date of PR?

Jan 2 is a holiday because Jan 1 is a weekend.

You can include pre-PR income as long as it was earned in Canada. You will need to provide Canadian tax returns for 2015, 2014 and 2013 if you want to apply in 2017.
