Parents Sponsership

Hi,

I am in Canada on PR and would like to sponsor my Parents. I have filed for Taxes only for 1 year so far (as I am only 1 year in Canada).

As part of the documents required according to: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5771E.PDF

is: 5. Option C print out or Notice of Assessment (NOA) issued by the Canada Revenue Agency for each of the three most recent taxation years.

I am unclear here: Is option C required as well for each of the 3 most recent taxation years and if so would this mean I cannot sponsor my parents until having lived at least 3 years of tax submission in Canada?

If this means 3 years are required, is there any other way to convince that we have enough funds to sponsor and support my parents?

Thanks!

No other way to sponsor other than to get 3 years NOAs. Keep in mind despite having 3 years NOAs, you cannot apply until Year #5, because you wont get Year #3 NOA until Feb-march in Year #4, meaning you will likely miss the 10,000 application limit for Year #4, which is usually reached in 1-2 days. Even then you have to wait 4-5 years after submitting for them to get PR, provided none of them fail the medical (if one fails medical, both will fail, thus both wont get PR) and you continue to meet the income requirements for the entirety of the application.

So total, expect 4 years to quality + 4-5 years processing, meaning don't expect your parents to land until 9-10 years from now.

What is the benefit of Super Visa? My parents are in the US.

Is there a quicker way if they find work in Canada to bring them in?

exactly a super visa is really just a long term visitor visa upto 2 year stay at a time but no work allowed. If they want to work they will need to apply same as anyone else through one of the work permit streams

They issue 10 years valid super visa with multiple entry, but any single stay will be max 2 years.

They cannot work on a super visa. To work in Canada before they are PRs, one of them would have to secure a full time job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer would have to obtain an LMIA so that they can then apply for a work permit.

Do you US Citizens also require LMIA before working in Canada, I though the process will be easier.

Depends. If they can obtain a full time job offer for an occupation that falls under NAFTA - then no LMIA is required. Otherwise an LMIA is required.

I'm Sort of in the Same boat.

I just become PR this month. I've been working since Sept 2013, its been 3 years now on Post Graduate Work Permit.

Would I be able to sponsor my parents when the PGP program reopens in January 2017?

Yes you can apply for your parents PR in 2017 provided you meet lico family size 3 requirements (you and your two parents) for 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Thanks!

I don't meet the Lico Requirements by myself. But my husband does. With him being my co-signer, can we apply?

Also, I was sponsored by my husband under the spouse category.

Yes, as long as your combined income meets LICO for 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Yes. Your husband can co-sponsor and include his income towards LICO requirement for 2013, 2014, and 2015 for a family size of 4 (you, your husband and your two parents).
