Congrats :) Stay blessed!

any news about return of passports/visa?

Did u inquire from CHC-I ?

HI everyone,

I applied to sponsor my mother in August 2008.
My sponsorship application was approved November 9, 2012. My mother's PR application was received by the Singapore office in December 2012.
It's been a long wait and I have two questions:
1) when do you think the next step will happen ? (give me a good guess, ballpark number is fine :)
2) I plan to apply supper visa for her because the wait is too long. I want her to visit my daughter in Canada and travel with her across Canada. Is it ok to apply for the super visa without negative impacts on her PR application ?
Many thanks for your answers. Much appreciated !!!
BTW, should I apply the GCMS notes to see what the status is ?

Thanks again!

You can take that, especially when it's only for ext - but some DMP will just just accept w/o any specific form since it's only for visitor ext

A week after the submission of passports, my parents got a call from the CHC-I. They asked my parents to submit the updated police reports asap. They submitted it, after going through a lot of pain, on last Wednesday. Since then no contact. :(

The waiting has started again.

Canada welcomed more than 16,000 new citizens in January

News Release 4 February 2014

Welcoming new Canadians
New citizens in January 2014 more than double the number from one year ago
February 4, 2014—Ottawa—Canada welcomed more than 16,000 new citizens in January – twice as many as in January 2013, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced today.

Investments announced in Economic Action Plan 2013 have helped make the system more efficient and strengthened the integrity of Canada’s citizenship program. The immense popularity of Canadian citizenship, though, has hampered efforts to tackle long processing times.

The government will take additional steps in the coming days to reduce backlogs while further strengthening the value of Canadian citizenship. As announced in the October 2013 Speech from the Throne, these measures – taken together – will form the first comprehensive reforms to the Citizenship Act in more than a generation.

Quick facts
In January 2013, 8,250 people obtained Canadian citizenship. In January 2014, more than 16,000 people became citizens at 244 citizenship ceremonies held across the country.
The citizenship ceremony is the last step before becoming a Canadian citizens and taking on the rights and responsibilities that come with citizenship.
The new Canadians welcomed into the Canadian family in January 2014 came from 190 different countries.
In 2013, 10,745 people were granted citizenship, on average, each month.
Since 2006, Canada has welcomed the highest sustained levels of immigration in Canadian history – an average of 257,000 newcomers each year. Accordingly, the demand for citizenship has increased by 30%.
Census data show 86% of eligible permanent residents become Canadian citizens.
Quote
“Our government views citizenship as a pledge of mutual responsibility and a shared commitment to values rooted in our history. We are proud to have welcomed more than 16,000 new Canadian citizens this past month and we look forward to their full participation in Canada’s economy and Canadian society. We will continue to improve Canada’s citizenship program to ensure deserving applicants can become citizens more quickly.”
Chris Alexander, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister

Is it the 1st extension for your mother? They usually request to undergo medicals just once. In our case they did not send us any forms, just asked us to do medicals, the doctor provided us with the required form and sent it to Ottawa.

Suin my mother's super visa is valid for 4 years, but when she came to Canada in Sep they gave her 6 months entry. I will apply for extention. Should I choose the same as trv extension online form?

I would choose the application for the authorized extension of stay instead. This way your mother's stay has a strong chance to be extended for upto 2 years.

Please advice.

Should I email CHC I and ask when will my parents get their passports with visa? Or should I wait and let them hibernate again? :(

Please reply someone.

Sometimes you need to give them space to work, in this case - if you ask - they will have to open file again and delay it unnecessarily
