What's the point to sponsor someone who has no relationship to you and waste so many years in waiting for them to complete the application? I still cannot understand the reason why they ask for the DNA proof.

Being a devil's advocate here, but I have seen people including their relatives' children in the file and bring them over, so its not entirely unfair, but the timing, right at the end of processing surely is. They could ask for it while submission or mid way so it does not delay, but really do they even want to process these applications faster, no.

Hi,

I am glad to see that Parents visa are being issued despite the strike, what a relief it is to those who already received the Visa.

I applied for my parents immigrant visa in Nov 2009.

File transferred to New Delhi in 2012 May.
Initial Medical request December 31, 2013
Additional Medicals: May 15, 2013
Medical Results received : June 10, 2013
Police clearance from Bahrain March 04, 2013
US Police Clearance July 20, 2013.

As of July 20, 2013 I have completed all requirements, but still waiting.

Could it be that my file is waiting for security/Background clearance or could it be waiting in queue to be processed.

I appreciate your opinion.

Which visa office you applied from? I also applied in Dec 2009. Now additional document request came. I will send docs next week, and then I beleive the application will be transfered to Islamabad. I am not sure how long it will take from there. Some are saying a year and other are saying 5 more years.

We have very similar timelines.
I applied in December 2009 as well and received request for documents in August too.
Our application will also go to ISB too which CIC website lists has a processing time of 58 months (approx 5 years)!
Hopefully, this time will reduce with the recent push to finish the backlog but I still expect it to be a couple of years.

Yes, I see that ISB cic website quotes 58 months. However, New Dehli office has 59 months, but most of the applications which were first files in 2008 are now finalized and visas granted. So, hopefully Islamabad process them in a year. Have you sent the additional documents?

I haven't sent them yet. We are in the process of compiling the documents.
I am a little stuck because I have a sister whom I did not add to the application when I applied in 2009 (my income was not sufficient) but now my income is sufficient and I want to add her... but I don't want this to negatively affect the application.
I am browsing through the forums to see if someone else was/is in this situation.

You are right about the timelines on CIC website seeming like "worst case scenario"... I notice the same thing that it seems here that people's applications are processing quicker.

Hi Sumair,

If you would like to add your sister, you can try. I don't think it will affect your application negatively. It may or may not delay your application, but other than that I don't see any harm in trying to add her. Worst case scenario they won't let you add her, but that shouldn't affect your sponsorship application.

Gcms help needed.... I applied gcms on sep 01 got the below email , after that they didn't sent anything else it is giving a temp number but saying a new register number will be provided its 22 days no number is provided yet , is that a norm, please help
