for my mom in law's re med, we got email first n then couple of days later we recvd snail mail with passport n Pcc request ( we still wonder y they didn't ask for everything in same letter). for dmp (in Punjab), they asked for original passport if u don't hv aadhar card or driver licence. But if u hv any other photo I'd then u can take photocopy of pp.

OK, so physical communication had both - Letter for PCC and PP

Did it say that including passport in that letter?

My mother and sister landed yesterday. No trouble except immigration took longer (2.5hrs).

Can you clarify regarding 2.5 hours? Did it take 2.5 hours due to the long wait to get processed (along with customs etc) or did the process itself was long for your parents etc.? Do they ask a lot of questions? Which airport did your parents land in?

My parents will be landing this summer. They do not speak English at all so I am wondering how the landing process goes and what I shoudl prepare for them (any notes etc).

It's really getting frustrated....I am no longer checking my ecas...don't knw when the time will come....I wanna ask abt pcc that what's the validity time, I mean 6 months or a year....if its 6 months then our pcc getting expired in abt 2 weeks....God, I hp they don't ask for pcc again.....

Although not 100%, googled validity and many links got me to this website, it seems to be six months. I was asked updated PCC coz I sent it before hand

My take on this is slightly different. PCC is generally valid for a year. However, some countries have different validity periods. Hence based on which country the pcc is from, its validity changes. AFA India is concerned, I guess it is 1 year as when I received request for additional docs, it was mentioned, send new pcc if the earlier pcc was issued more than a year ago.

The next issue is, the point in time when LVO checks the documents. If on that day, the pcc is valid, then they may not ask for new ones even if they take a long time to process the rest of the application.

It doesn't need to go there, it usually changes to that if they asked more docs but app received/meds received can change to decision made straight away

no....there was no mention tht they r returning passport. however, they did ask to submit the passport along with pcc wen the med is done. (just like a standard letter for med n passport request).

its more than a month after second med...still no update....i m getting sick with this wait :'( :'(

like I said already, it was a general/ standard letter stating, "in order to continue processing on ur application we need following document" followed by list of documents in bulleted form (med exam form, pcc, passport n the letter)

kept trying to explains that applicants later than 2008 have got visas and they said every case is different. told them my case is as simple as it can be but was told that they don't want to argue or debate with me. i know who is not getting my vote next elections.
