Even though this is off-topic, I thought it better to clear the misconception. A valid PR card does not mean a person has maintained his/her PR status. At the point of entry, the person has to prove that they can complete the mandatory 2 year in-Canada stay in the balance time left on the PR card. For example, if a person became PR on Jan 1st and left the country on March (say 3 months), the PR card will be valid for 5 years. But if that person stays out for 4 years, then that person simply would not be able to complete the mandatory 2 year requirement. It is at this point the person can be refused entry into Canada as (s)he would have deemed to have lost PR status.
I have heard in that case a person is reported to CIC and is allowed to enter for 30 days to appeal. And if you have H&C grounds of medical and you have evidence then you can win the appeal. Otherwise, you can lose your PR. However, if you are fortunate and are not formally reported then you are good and live for 2 years before renewing your PR card. Sometimes, CBSA officers give lecture for not living in Canada or meeting Residency Obligation, but do not report you formally. In that case, you are good.... Usually they prepare some documents or make you sign something in order to report you to CIC..... But I am not sure how that works exactly.. paper work and all....

ask ICICI Bank in India, I openend an Account in ICICI Canada and transferred Money before I Landed in 2005 , it was through ICICI Bank in India.ICICI Canada has even provided me Balance certificate to show as a proof for funds.
Thanks for the reply Lattim,
But if my parents transfer money before landing in Canada, how do they declare it (since it will be over $10,000)? and will it create any problems?

in my case they mailed me Balance certificate as I require it to show as proof of funds as I came as skilled worker.
I think one have to declare only if you have cash over $10,000 not other forms lile TCs, Drafts etc.
in any case you can tell immigration authorities at the Airport about the money transfer in Account.

I think in above scenerio if the person has PR Card , it should not be a problem at point of entry.
but if they do not have PR Card for any reason and they are applying a travel Document (for returning residents) there might be some problem to satisfy visa officer at Chandigarh or New Delhi

if before 22 jan your status are not update to medical then i think some more test is needed what i read from other member maximum 2 month time. But i pray for u that it will update to medical recevied soon
She is on supervisa, and the medicals were done in Canada, I had to send the documents to New Delhi. I asked the Doctor's office here, they confirmed that the medicals were sent to ottawa on December 06, 2012, but still nothing. She underwent Medical for Supervisa recently in September 2012, but everything was fine. I does'nt have any complications at all. I don't see any reason for more tests. Hope not to proceed with any other tests. Now I am really afraid.

You have to "declare cash" only if you are physically bringing the cash. If its a transfer from one account to another account (before or after your landing), then there is nothing to declare.

There is no limit on how much you can bring into Canada as long as it is declared
